Majo Urbina.

María José “Majo” Urbina Gómez was born and raised in Ciudad Satelite, Mexico. Majo started her formal art education in 2016 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She first started with an interest in painting and illustration but quickly changed into arts administration. In 2017 Majo participated as a programming coordinator in Dysfunctional Furniture. In 2018-2019 she interned for the National Museum of Mexican Art assisting their Dia de Muertos and Mexico 68 ¡No se olvida! Exhibitions, and their 2019 Gala, Noche de Encanto. In 2019, she worked with the Chicago Cultural Center to archive the Goat Island performance’s objects and worked with the Roger Brown Collection with researching and archiving. In 2019 she participated in group exhibitions SITE Curated and Anything but Books - Book Show. She participated in 2019’s edition of the Chicago Art Book Fair.
